    Can’t get to sleep!

So here’s the deal….my husband has a really hard time getting to sleep at night.  No matter how tired he gets, once he goes to bed then he lays there awake.  So, he visited the family physician and was prescribed some sleeping pills.  Needless to say, that is the last thing he wants to take and get addicted too.  So, to begin with he decided to try Melatonin.

Melatonin is naturally produced in the body in response to the perception of light.  It is a herbal/health supplement used to ease insomnia, combat jet lag, protect cells from free-radical damage, boost the immune system, prevent cancer and extend life.

We purchased our first supply from Puritan’s Pride since they were having a really good special going.  He has been taking them for approximately a month and guess what?  He is able to fall asleep quickly now.  In fact, he takes it about 30 minutes before going to bed and by the time bedtime gets here, he is so sleepy that he can barely make it to the bed.

I’m interested in knowing others views on this herbal supplement or what else you may have tried.  We don’t want to take anything harmful, but yet he doesn’t want to stay awake all night either!
